The Egg Production Process

Using only infertile, Grade A ostrich eggs, we combine a series of ink transfers and “modging”, or rather, decoupage varnish, to achieve the brilliant finish you will witness on these products.

Firstly, we clean and disinfect the egg in a Veterinary Disinfectant called Virkon-S. We then sandpaper the egg smooth so that the surface is ready for the delicate ink transfer of graphics.
Once the ink transfer has been applied, varnishing begins, absorbing between 10 and 14 days of manufacturing time and 40 –50 layers of Decoupage Varnish. When this is complete, the product is sprayed with a gloss varnish, giving the Decoupage Ostrich Egg it’s final shine.
